Security Procedures for Wire Transfers Initiated through a BMO Harris Bank Branch
The information provided below details the security procedures applicable to wire transfers initiated through a branch office of BMO Harris Bank N.A. ("we," "us," or "our") only, whether in person or by telephone, facsimile, email or U.S. mail. In order to be able to initiate wire transfers directly through the BMO Harris Wire Room, you are required to enter into a Wire Transfer Services Agreement (for Non-Personal Customers) or Wire Transfer Services Agreement (for Personal Customers), as applicable, and the security procedures applicable to such wire transfers are set forth in those agreements. We reserve the right to change the following security procedures at our discretion without prior notice to you.
We will verify the identity of the individual initiating the wire transfer in person through one of our branch offices by various means, which may include our review of both primary and secondary identification documentation. Please contact a branch office for additional information regarding eligible primary and secondary identification documentation.
In addition to the foregoing, we will determine that the individual initiating the wire transfer is authorized to do so in accordance with our records (an "Authorized Wire Individual").
Initiation of wire transfers through one of our branch offices by telephone is permitted on an exception basis only and we reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to refuse to accept any wire transfer instructions you submit to us by those means. In addition, to protect the confidentiality of your personal information, never send us information regarding your complete account numbers, debit card numbers and/or PINs and passwords. If you are sending us your account number or debit card number, please only send the last four digits.
Security procedures applicable to any such wire transfers that you initiate by these means that we accept will include any or all of the following at our discretion:
- Call back to an Authorized Wire Individual to verify the authenticity of the wire transfer request;
- Use of identifying questions;
- Use of certain additional "out-of-wallet" challenge questions to verify the identity of the Authorized Wire Individual; or
- Such other measures as we deem appropriate or necessary.
In addition to the foregoing, we will determine that the individual initiating the wire transfer is an Authorized Wire Individual.
