U.S. Employee Volunteer Day
We provide opportunities and encourage employees to volunteer their time in the communities where they live and work. Many of BMO Harris Bank's 70+ projects focus on gardening, planting, or environmental cleanup.
We have a growing team of volunteers. We refer to them as "environmental ambassadors" and they support the Environmental Sustainability Office in raising employee awareness with environmental initiatives. Our ambassadors are dedicated to educating their colleagues and promoting environmental programs aimed at reducing the environmental impacts of our operations.
Office Supply Exchange
This annual event allows employees to redistribute supplies their department no longer needs and identify supplies other departments do not need. This event creates a way to reuse supplies and prevent usable items from ending up in a landfill. All unclaimed items are donated to local schools in need of supplies. Over the past three years, the Office Supply Exchange Program has generated a cost avoidance and donation credit exceeding $35,000.
The last Saturday in March, from 8:30-9:30pm, people across the globe turn off their lights to show that by working together, we can have an impact in the fight against climate change. BMO Harris encourages employees to participate in this annual event.
Over the years, BMO Harris employees have planned and participated in a spectrum of Earth Day events: composting demonstrations, giveaways (green bags, reusable cups, compact fluorescent light bulbs), IT demonstrations on double-side printing and computer energy saving settings, recycling education and more.
Alternate Work Space Design
This program at BMO Harris improves space utilization, cuts energy consumption, reduces real estate costs and improves team cohesiveness.
