Apple PayTM
Frequently Asked Questions

Which BMO Harris credit and debit cards are eligible for Apple Pay?
• Personal Credit Cards
• Personal Debit Cards
• Small Business Debit Cards

How do I add my BMO Harris credit or debit card to Apple Pay?
It’s easy. Go into Settings on your eligible Apple device, open Passbook & Apple Pay, and select “Add Credit or Debit Card.” On your iPhone®, you can open Passbook, then swipe down and tap the plus sign. From there, use the camera on your Apple Pay-enabled device to take a photo of the card you wish to upload or type in the card number manually. If you already have credit and debit cards in your iTunesTM account, you can add those to Passbook by simply entering the card’s security code — the three-digit number on the back of the card.

Do all merchants accept Apple Pay?
No. For a full list of participating merchants, please visit Apple.

What type of device do I need to use Apple Pay?
Please visit Apple for a current list of supported devices.

What is a virtual card?
A virtual card is a digital form of your credit or debit card that you entered into your Apple Passbook. Once your card is loaded into Passbook, it will be assigned a Device Account Number. This number is different from the card number printed on your physical card.

What is an in-app purchase?
An "in-app" purchase is the act of buying content, services or items within an application on your participating Apple Pay device.

What if my phone is lost or stolen?
It's a good idea to download Apple's Find My iPhone app in case this should happen. You can use the app to quickly place your device in “Lost” mode so your information is not accessible, or you can remotely erase your iPhone. Please note: Find My iPhone must be enabled in iCloud settings on your device before you can locate it with this app. If your BMO Harris card is lost or stolen, please contact:
    Debit: 1-888-340-2265
    Credit: 1-866-522-7030
    World Credit: 1-877-465-7200

If I erase my iPhone, does that cancel my physical cards or can I continue to use them?
Erasing the information on your iPhone has no impact on your credit or debit card account(s). But it will delete your cards from Apple Pay. Simply follow the process described above to re-enter your cards.

What if I get a new card account number?
If you get a new card account number, you will need to go into Apple Pay to delete your old account and add the new, replacement account.

Why am I being asked to call BMO Harris Bank to verify my card?
This is just an extra security step. Simply call the number provided so we can verify your card. Then look for a Passbook message letting you know your card is ready for Apple Pay.

Do I get the same protection on transactions I make with Apple Pay as I do with my physical card?
Yes. Just like your physical credit and debit cards, your BMO Harris Bank virtual credit and debit cards are covered by Zero Liability.*

Will merchants receive my physical card number?
Most merchants won’t have access to your physical card number; they’ll receive the unique Device Account Number associated with your credit or debit card.

Please note: MasterCard® must provide your physical card number to certain transit merchants (e.g., subway systems) in order to process real-time decisions about whether or not to approve your purchase.

Will the card image in Apple Pay match my physical card?
The card image might not be an exact match. Keep in mind this doesn’t affect how your cards work with Apple Pay.
