About the BMO Harris Bank Holiday Display
The Holiday Display centers around the bank's extensive collection of German-made Steiff animals. The display covers 1,300 square feet and boasts more than 20 freshly cut evergreen trees, 500 yards of fabric, hundreds of feet of trim and foot upon foot of "snow." When you visit this year's BMO Harris Bank Holiday Display, you may be pleasantly surprised to see your favorite toy come to life, from Paddington Bear to Bozo the Clown to My Little Pony.
The Steiff company is often credited with producing the world's first teddy bears. It started in 1880 in Germany, where Margarete Steiff hand stitched tiny elephants and stuffed them with straw. Originally intended as pincushions, the elephants were popular with children, and soon other types of plush toy animals followed. With the introduction of the teddy bear in 1902, Steiff gained worldwide recognition for its quality and originality.
Many of the items in the bank's large Steiff holiday collection are irreplaceable pieces of history, and we are pleased to share them with you through our annual holiday display.
